ANIMALS STARTING WITH LETTER k

441 species

We collected more than 370 animals beginning with the letter K.

You probably expect to find a Kangaroo in this list, but it is not here because we use species names rather than a group or common names. The term “kangaroo” refers to four marsupials from the family Macropodidae. In common use, this term is used to describe the largest species from this family, which are commonly referred to as kangaroos: the Red kangaroo, the Antilopine kangaroo, the Eastern grey kangaroo, and the Western grey kangaroo. All four species are missing in this list because their English names don’t start with the letter “K”.

The same goes for a Kiwi. The term “kiwi” refers to flightless birds, members of the order

Apterygiformes. There are five known species of kiwi: the Great spotted kiwi, the Little spotted kiwi, the Okarito kiwi, the Southern brown kiwi, and the North Island brown kiwi. None of these species can be found in this list as their English names don’t start with the letter “K”.

Since it can be confusing sometimes we made a list of popular animal names starting with the letter “K”. Here it is: Koala, Kakapo, Komodo Dragon, Kinkajou, Killdeer, Kea, Killer Whale, Klipspringer, Kodkod, King Penguin, Kiang, Kouprey, Kob, Kabu, Kri-kri, Kipunji, Kowari, Katuali, Kingfisher, Kookaburra, Kangaroo, Kiwi, Kudu, Kestrel.
