Red-eared conure, Red-eared parakeet
The blood-eared parakeet (Pyrrhura hoematotis ) also known as the red-eared conure or red-eared parakeet is a species of parrot in the family Psittacidae.It is endemic to the Venezuelan Coastal Range.
The blood-eared parakeet is mostly green, with blue primary feathers, long red rectrices, and red ear coverts, to which it owes its name. Often seen in large flocks flying, perching, or eating fruits.
Common in forest edges and cloud forests within subtropical and tropical montane regions. May also occupy heavily degraded former forests and savannas. P. hoematotis inhabits the Coastal Cordillera region of Venezuela, as well as a small region at the north end of the Andes.
