Beluga and Narwhal
3 species
Belugas and Narwhals are small whales that occur around the Arctic Ocean. They do not have a true dorsal fin but do have a narrow ridge running along the back. They are highly vocal animals, communicating with a wide range of sounds such as \"clicks\", \"whistles\" and \"knocks\". They make sounds by grinding their teeth or splashing, but they rarely use body language. Like other whales, they also use echolocation to navigate. Belugas and Narvals are social and live in family groups; they travel as part of herds, or \'pods\' and may contain several hundred individuals. Females of both species almost always give birth to a single calf after a gestation period of 14 or 15 months. Calves are typically weaned at two years, and start to breed when they are five to eight years of age.
