These are medium-sized dogs with a strong, compact body. The neck is long, passing into a pronounced deep pectoral fold. Straight thin paws should stand firmly on the ground. A trapezoidal long head and the same long muzzle can look smaller against the background of the whole body. Beautiful, expressive almond-shaped eyes, dark brown in color. The ears are three-pointed, rounded at the ends, and should hang on the cartilage. But nowadays, the ears, like the tail, are often docked. In its natural form, the tail should be thin, of medium length, and not fall over the back. The coat is very short and smooth, shiny in appearance. The color German Pinscher can be brown, black, fawn, or red.

Origin
Representatives of this breed have very deep German roots, so much so that modern scientists have almost no guesses about their ancestors. All that is known is that all dogs are descended from ancient marsh dogs that were used as rat hunters in Europe. But the German Pinschers known to us were used in ancient times to protect farms, livestock, and property in general. Already in the XIX century, lovers of this nature began to appear actively, trying to achieve official recognition of this breed as independent. For the first time, the standards of German Pinscher were examined only in 1880, and they were officially recognized as independent 4 years later. In 1895 and 1923, breeders repeatedly reviewed the standards of German Pinscher.
Temperament
Representatives of this breed have a somewhat independent, but very intelligent character. German Pinschers are incredibly devoted to their owner, so if you cannot pay attention to the dog, you are often not at home and you do not have the opportunity to take the dog with you - it is better to look at other breed options. In the circle of the family, German Pinscher will behave very kindly, especially with children. And they also have a good day with other pets, including cats. And strangers can be treated with distrust, of course, if it is not a family friend who will visit you often. If you make friends with them, German Pinscher will always listen to you and protect you if necessary.

Training
Training representatives of this breed can be somewhat difficult due to their inner stubbornness and desire for independence. Therefore, from an early age, 3-4 months, you should start teaching the German Pinscher basic easy commands, such as: sit, come to me, lie down. And also actively socialize. Because of their great activity, German Pinschers are able to show good results in dog sports, especially agility. Be sure to praise your pet for any achievements and give a treat. German Pinscher can live in any condition, both in a spacious private house and in an apartment, but under the condition of frequent active walks. They also do not need complicated care for their fur, it will be enough to comb them during shedding 3 times a week, and in other periods you can do it only once a week. It is also not necessary to bathe the German Pinscher often, you can do it if necessary if the pet is very dirty.
