Temperament

Most of the time, dogs of this breed have a serious service character with ideal working qualities. Hokkaido-Inu have many positive character traits, including reliability, courage, and strength. But do not forget that behind each sign there must be a strong owner who can direct their aggression and stubbornness in the right direction. Hokkaido-Inu treats strangers with suspicion and is ready to attack as soon as he gives an excuse. These are patient dogs, but still be careful when bringing them into a family where there are small children or pets, be sure to introduce them to each other at an early age. The owner must always be the authority for the dog, otherwise Hokkaido-Inu will stop obeying and become uncontrollable.

Training

It is very important to start training Hokkaido-Inu from an early age, namely: correcting aggressive behavior, discipline, and basic commands. These are very serious working dogs, so it is important that the owner is an authority for them, only in this case the dog will understand what they want from it and follow commands with half a word. If you start to show aggression or cruel behavior, the dog will become unmanageable and start to misbehave. If you are not sure that you will be able to cope with the sexual maturation of the Hokkaido-Inu, when it starts trying to change the position of the leader - be sure to contact a professional dog trainer.
