The head is proportional to the body, with an aesthetic muzzle of good shape. Large round eyes of a dark color protrude from under long eyebrows. The triangular ears of Irish Wolfhound are not very large and are located high, they should hang on the cartilage. The tail is slightly longer than average, and slightly twisted at the end. The coat is hard, wiry in texture and can be brindle, black, white, grey, fawn, blue, or red in color.
