The sapphire-bellied hummingbird (Chrysuronia lilliae ) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae.

Appearance

It has bright plumage, with blue undersides and green uppersides and black wings. The forked tail is blue-black. It is found only in Colombia. The species is endemic to the Atlantic coasts. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical mangrove forest and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland.It is threatened by habitat loss.

This species was formerly placed in the genus Lepidopyga. A molecular phylogenetic study published in 2014 found that Lepidopyga was polyphyletic. In the revised classification to create monophyletic genera, the sapphire-bellied hummingbird was moved to Chrysuronia.
