Appearance

The Anatoli is a striking cat breed, known for its large size and powerful build. This feline's legs and tail are of medium length, providing a balanced appearance. The head is triangular in shape, featuring a firm chin and a straight profile that adds to its regal look. The ears are set high on the head and are notable for their size and rounded tips. The eyes are oval and slightly slanted, with their color matching the coat. The Anatoli's coat is short and lacks an undercoat, making it easy to maintain. This breed can have a two-tone coat, with white being the dominant color and other markings present. Alternatively, some Anatoli cats may be plain white. They come in various colors, excluding chocolate and cinnamon, as well as their diluted versions like lilac and fawn. This diverse range of coat colors adds to the Anatoli's allure and uniqueness.

Origin

All present-day cat breeds in Turkey trace their ancestry back to ancient Anatolian wild cats. The Anatoli is considered a natural breed, having evolved without human intervention. Known as Anadolu Kedisi in their native land, they are recognized as Anatolis in the global cat-breeding community. Originating in Turkey, the breed made its debut at a cat show in Germany in 1995 and was officially recognized as a distinct breed by the World Cat Federation in 2001. Despite its rarity outside of Turkey, efforts are underway within the country to establish a national breeding program aimed at promoting, protecting, and preserving the Anatoli breed.

Temperament

Anatoli cats are renowned for their affectionate nature, reveling in the company of their human companions and happily snuggling on their laps. Despite their imposing stature, these gentle giants are particularly patient around children and enjoy the camaraderie of other pets. Interestingly, Anatoli cats eschew traditional meowing and instead communicate through distinctive chirping sounds. When not indulging in cozy naps, Anatoli cats exhibit exuberant energy, dashing around the house with zest and occasionally perching on shoulders with surprising agility. Uniquely, this breed harbors a penchant for water, akin to their Turkish Van counterparts, often displaying a fascination with splashing and playing in wet environments. Owners may find themselves delighted by their Anatolian feline's affinity for water, as they gleefully immerse themselves in aquatic antics whenever the opportunity arises.

Common health issues
Anatoli cats do not have any special dietary requirements. They need a high-quality diet rich in protein and constant access to fresh, clean water.
The short coat of Anatoli cats does not require time-consuming maintenance. Brushing it once or twice a week is enough to keep it in good condition. You also need to trim your pet's nails and provide a scratching post. In addition, it is important to regularly brush your cat’s teeth or provide special dental treats to prevent periodontal disease.

The Anatoli is a naturally robust breed known for its strong health. Nevertheless, like all breeds, they are susceptible to certain health conditions. Some potential issues that these cats may face include Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a heart condition, and hearing loss particularly if they are white with blue eyes.
