Origin

The Foreign White breed was established in 1962 through the collaborative efforts of Irishwoman Elizabeth Flack and Englishmen Brian Stirling-Webb and Pat Turner. Although the creation of the breed involves all three individuals, credit is generally given to Pat Turner for conceptualizing the idea after observing an overexposed photograph of a lilac Siamese with a predominantly white body and blue eyes. In 1965, the Foreign White Cat Society was established by eight breeders to support the growth and advancement of this new breed. The breed received full recognition from the GCCF in June 1977. As of 2022, the GCCF and the Australian Cat Federation are the only breeder/fancier organizations that acknowledge the Foreign White as an official breed.

Common health issues
The Foreign White does not have any special dietary requirements. They need a properly balanced, high-protein diet and constant access to fresh water.
Foreign White cats have low grooming needs, requiring just a weekly brushing with a damp glove to maintain their soft and silky fur. In addition to grooming, it is important to regularly brush their teeth, trim their claws, and clean their ears to ensure their overall well-being. These cats are particularly vulnerable to sunburn, so it is essential to keep them indoors to shield them from extended UV exposure. If they do need to go outside, it is advisable to apply sun cream with a high protection factor to safeguard their delicate skin.
Grooming intencity:
Easy to groom
The Foreign White breed is known for having strong health, but it can be susceptible to amyloidosis, a rare disease characterized by the presence of insoluble protein deposits in tissues. This condition primarily affects organs such as the kidneys, heart, digestive tract, liver, skin, peripheral nerves, and eyes. However, it can potentially impact all organs including the central nervous system. Affected organs typically exhibit significant inflammation and enlargement.
