The Khao Manee is a distinct breed of white-coat cat that stands out from others. It is characterized by its elegance and grace, with a short and dense coat. The cat has long, thin paws with wide and graceful rounded paw pads. Its hind legs are slightly longer than the front ones, and the tail is medium length, thin, and tapered towards the tip. The ears are large, straight, and spaced widely apart.
One of the most striking features of the Khao Manee is its unique eyes. They are large, expressive, almond-shaped, and usually blue. However, a notable trait of this breed is the tendency to have eyes of different colors, with one eye being blue and the other yellow or green in many adults. These eyes have a diamond shine and can reflect light even during the day.
The coat of the Khao Manee is exceptionally silky and soft, resembling satin. It is a solid white color without any spots or stripes. The inside of the ears, nose, and pads of the feet have a pale pink hue, adding to the cat's overall charm.

Origin
The first records of the Khao Manee date back to the 13th century. A short-haired cat with multi-colored eyes was described in the oldest Thai cat treatise, Tamra Maew. The cat was named Khao Plort, carefully protected, and considered a national treasure. In ancient Siam, Khao Manee cats were kept only by wealthy people. It is known that King Rama V Chulalongkorn of Siam was an admirer of the Khao Manee. According to Thai popular beliefs, a white cat with multi-colored eyes will bring fortune and wealth to its owner. The power of belief in the cat's supernatural abilities was the reason for the Khao Manee's participation in the coronation of the last absolute monarch of Thailand, Rama VII Prachadipok. However, the monarch was not favored by luck, and a revolution broke out in the country. For nearly 650 years, not a single Khao Manee cat has left Thailand. Only after World War II did the breed become known in the West. In 1999, a pair of Khao Manee cats was imported to the United States by breeder Collin Freimuth. He managed to get the first litter. Experienced breeders began to popularize and strengthen the breed. It is almost impossible to trace the genetic roots of the breed, which has been around for centuries. Breeders had to rely on experience and intuition. The experiments lasted until 2001. Khao Manee cats were allowed to register at exhibitions and were shown out of competition until 2012. The breed has not achieved absolute recognition because, to obtain champion status, the breed must be stable. Volunteers from the Khao Manee Fanciers' Club, experts from the International Cat Association (TICA), and the British Cat Cats' Federation (GCCF) are still working to strengthen the Khao Manee as a breed.
Temperament
The Khao Manee is a very affectionate breed and is highly attached to its owner. These cats are very sociable, lively, curious, and intelligent. They are often referred to as 'cat-dogs' due to their behavior. They are naturally vocal and enjoy communicating with their owners, whom they adore. Khao Manee cats are known to recognize their names and interact with their owners. They also tend to get along well with other cats and most dog breeds.

Common health issues
Just like all other cats, Khao Manee are carnivores. They do not have any special dietary requirements. They need a high-protein cat food and constant access to fresh and clean water.
The Khao Manee breed is known for its short coat, making grooming a straightforward task. While brushing your pet weekly to remove loose hairs is essential, these cats are quite diligent in grooming themselves. In addition to regular brushing, it is important to trim your cat's nails and clean its ears frequently. Dental care is also crucial; regular teeth brushing can help prevent dental issues. Therefore, it is recommended to brush your cat's teeth as often as possible to maintain optimal dental health.
Grooming intencity:
Easy to groom
Khao Manee cats are known for their robust health due to being a natural breed with fewer genetic issues. Nevertheless, it is essential to maintain regular vet check-ups to ensure your pet's well-being remains in optimal condition.
