Origin

The Ukrainian Levkoy is a recent man-made breed (2000-2011), originally developed by Olena Biriukova in Ukraine. Created by crossing hairless Donskoy females with Scottish Fold males, the Ukrainian Levkoy has a distinct and unique appearance. The first cat of the Ukrainian Levkoy breed registered by the ICFA RUI (Rolandus Union International) Breeding Commission, Levkoy Primero, was born on January 21, 2004. In 2008, more than 200 cats of this breed were registered in various felinological organizations in Ukraine and Russia. Other organizations are breeding this new Ukrainian Levkoy breed as an experimental breed without the 'Champion' title at cat exhibitions.

Ukrainian Levkoy cats, while not having any specific dietary requirements, do have a unique energy expenditure due to their hairless nature, requiring them to consume more food to maintain warmth compared to larger, furrier breeds. Thus, it is crucial to provide them with high-quality cat food that is protein and fat-rich. Additionally, ensuring they have constant access to fresh water is essential to ensure they receive adequate nourishment.
Female Ukrainian Levkoy cats usually give birth to between three and five kittens.

Ukrainian Levkoy cats are a unique and interesting breed that may not require as much care as some other breeds, but they still benefit from some specific attention. Here are some tips for caring for a Ukrainian Levkoy cat: 1. Protect them from drafts: It is important to ensure that there are no drafts in the house where the Ukrainian Levkoy cat lives, as they are sensitive to changes in temperature. 2. Protect their skin from direct sunlight: Their unique skin type may be sensitive to direct sunlight, especially in hot weather. Providing a shady spot for them to rest in can help protect their skin. 3. Provide thick and warm bedding in winter: Ukrainian Levkoy cats have good thermoregulation, but providing them with cozy bedding in the colder months can help keep them comfortable. 4. Minimal bathing: While Ukrainian Levkoy cats do not require frequent bathing, occasional baths can help keep their skin and coat healthy. If your cat enjoys baths, you can offer them a monthly bath. 5. Clean their ears and eyes: Regularly cleaning their ears and wiping their eyes can help prevent infections and keep them comfortable. 6. Prevent them from climbing on high surfaces: Due to their long limbs, Ukrainian Levkoy cats can be prone to injuries if they fall from high places. Keep them off high surfaces or provide safe climbing options. 7. Trim their nails regularly: To prevent overgrowth and potential injury, it is important to trim the Ukrainian Levkoy cat's nails about once a week. Providing a scratching post can also help keep their nails healthy. By following these tips, you can ensure that your Ukrainian Levkoy cat stays happy and healthy in your home.

Since the Ukrainian Levkoy breed is very rare and recently developed, there isn’t much information available about its potential health conditions. To ensure the well-being of your Ukrainian Levkoy cats, it is recommended to schedule regular veterinary check-ups at least once a year. More frequent visits may be necessary to monitor their health closely and prevent any potential serious health issues.
