The Kinkalow cat breed, with its origins in the United States of America, was created when cat breeder Terri Harris made the decision to cross a Munchkin with an American Curl. This unique blend resulted in a cat with short legs, reminiscent of the Munchkin, and distinctive curled ears like the American Curl. Over the course of the 1990s, Terri Harris and other enthusiasts of dwarf breeds actively worked on developing the Kinkalow breed. In 1997, their efforts paid off when The International Cat Association granted the Kinkalow breed recognition as an experimental breed. Initially named Munchkinlanes Kinkalow Louie, the name 'Kinkalow' likely points to the distinctive kinks in this breed's ears and its short stature. Today, the Kinkalow breed has earned recognition from the Rare and Exotic Feline Registry, solidifying its place in the world of unique and cherished cat breeds.
