We collected more than 1860 animals beginning with the letter M.
You probably expect to find a Mink in this list, but it is not here because we use species names rather than a group or common names. The term “mink” refers to carnivorous mammals of the subfamily Mustelinae. There are two extant species referred to as "mink": the American mink and the European mink. As seen none of these species' names starts with the letter “M” and thus is not included in this list.
With Mongooses it can be a bit confusing. The term “mongoose” refers to small terrestrial mammals belonging to the family Herpestidae comprising of 34 species. This list includes only a few species such as the Marsh mongoose, the Meller’s mongoose, and the Meerkat which doesn’t even have the term “mongoose” as a part of its English name.
It can be a bit tricky in some cases so we made a list of popular animal names starting with the letter “M”. Here it is: Margay, Marmot, Macaque, Minke Whale, Mallard, Monitor Lizard, Manatee, Mangrove Snake, Mandrill, Marmoset, Meerkat, Mule Deer, Mallard, Markhor, Mink, Mockingbird, Mule, Monkey, Mouse, Mongoose, Macaw.
